PULLMAN HOTEL – DEIRA
Hello all, I am very selective when it comes to invites for friday evenings as the invitation has to battle with my comfortable sofa, Netflix and some quality time together with my better half. I was invited for a food tasting at Medley restaurant – Pullman hotel – Deira. Ungluing myself from the final episode of Sacred games, me and my wife decieded to venture into Medley. And I must say what a glorious decision that was. We were warmly greeted by our beautiful host Tonya, who wasted no time in introducing us to the star of the evening, Masterchef and celebrity Sweety Singh and the executive chef Chandramouli Perur. A true delight, Sweety Singh obliged us with photographs and requested the same for his camera. The setting is a buffet, Indian style ( nothing extraordinary here) but the taste and feel of each dish lingered. What struck us most was the humble nature of Sweety Singh. He personally went to each table taking feedback and inviting everyone to try out some more. Imagine going to watch a Blockbuster film and during the show the lead star walks up to your seat asking you if you are enjoying the film. Coming to the food, We started off with the chaat, the works, Pani puri, papdi chaat, dahi puri etc, there was a line and hence some waiting time. Next I ventured to the Salad section and what caught the attention of my tastebuds was the fruit salad and the corn salad. The mains i tried were, pakora kadi, jeera rice, bhindi aaloo sabzi, aloo mutter paneer and not to forget the starters the grilled paneer. For some strange odd reason we both were vegetarian on that day. But, nonetheless the taste was good. What appeals about Sweety singhs culinary skills is that the food is light and not heavily packed with cashew paste or cream. The food is close to what you experience at home. We ended the evening with some deserts, Beetroot halva was my favourite, and the masala chaas. My wife tried some masala chai which was given a thumbs up by her. Overall, full points to the service and Hospitality, Bonus points for Masterchef Sweety Singh and 4 stars to the overall experience.
